Worst was when Rheem approved exchange but Home Depot wouldn't honor exchange, that's after brought defective water heater back to customer service counter. Spend hours in a deadlock with Home Depot manager and Rheem on the phone with each other….
Now I got a dumb water heater
Leak sensor faulty-had to bypass to get unit to open valve and operate
Replaced heat pump temp sensor and still reports heat pump failures
Had do disconnect wifi , due to constant alarms
When heat pump ran-it was very loud
Overall junk and no rheem support
Certainly didn't save any on utility bills

The only drawback is that you cannot permanently switch it to "electrical only" mode for winter months: you have to create a weird schedule. Rheem is aware of it, but their only suggestion was to create a schedule to use heat pump for some time.
Other than that: no complaints whatsoever.
Your standard basic water heater is still the overall most cost efficient solution for tank types provided you actually maintain it...as in flush once or twice a year, replace the anode rod every couple years, etc.
Too lazy to rewrite everything. But advice to the guy dealing with the pilot light going out - if the water heater is on the third floor and it is not leaking water, absolutely consider replacing the thermocoupler, gas valve, etc. before replacing the whole unit. Many water heaters have generic repair kits that contain the common wear items. Your back will thank you for not having to lug one up and down three stories.

Note that there is another version that runs on Heat Pump only that can plug into a 120V outlet. When on heat pump, expect it to pull 300W. It cools down my garage in the summer so that's a plus.
Note that most of negative reviews associated with the 120V model (this is the 240V model) are really to people's dumbasserry of not knowing the difference between the HP only model and the Hybrid model.
It is worth having someone take a look at it to see if it can be fixed before I order a new one? If I order a new one, how hard is it to install myself? I want to save some money
I have a boiler which turned out to be more efficient than a heat pump. When i was looking into it a few years ago.
Also idk if I need the largest b/c the one that needs to be replaced only services the master bedroom on the 3rd floor. My primary one is in the basement that services the rest of the house

I have the 80 gallon size, the 240V version, but I never run it on resistive heater so it pulls essentially 300W only when on HP.
If you can't, then I would go with whatever you can fit in your bedroom. Think about it this way, if you are going to pull what I do (i.e. running it on HP only when electricity is off peak) when I have families over during peak (essentially 4-9pm) I have to ensure I have enough hot water capacity. To its credit, I never ever run out of hot water. Then again, I have the 80 gallon size so my margin for use is pretty large.

A beat up delivery truck subcontracted by Home Depot arrived to deliver it. The heater was on its side laying on the floor of the truck. Upon opening the box, there was a small dent in the side of the heater, which didnt surprise me. I called Home Depot CS and spoke nicely with the agent helping me. She was able to approve a $250 damage credit to my visa. I would rather have swapped it our for an undamaged heater, but my other water heater was leaking and had already been removed.
So for around $600 installed (by myself) after all the credits and new plumbing, I figured if the compressor failed, Id still be able to use only the heating coils to heat the water (by selecting that mode).
The power saving already paid for the enter heater replacement a year ago, but I also got some tremendous discounts while investing a great deal of time.
Fingers crossed that it lasts a while longer!
