Eh, I do prefer a tailswitch but I have gotten accustom to having a magnet on the bottom now. I find that more useful in most situations.

Check out the FC12 on their website, tail switch and it's deeply discounted because it's discontinued

I have this light in black and green and it's great. I highly recommend playing with the user interface to unlock the stepless diming so you can get a really low moonlight mode. I also like the candle mode for a good ambiance. I have used mine in Halloween pumpkins as candles.

This has "Candlelight Mode"? How do you activate that?

It's one of the options in strobe. I think it's 4 clicks and hold the 4th one to cycle through the modes. I always need to look at the manual bc I use so many different lights.

The cardinal sin of this and other flashlights from this brand is the placement of the button. The only Correct place for the button is on the butt end of the light. How's this even a question? Who wants to be fumbling for the ON button when they need the light?

Strongly agree. At first I thought it was kinda gimmicky, but then my eyes opened, and there's always something metal near by to free up my hands when I'm working on something. These are fantastic for keeping in your car.

I'm new to these flashlights. Is this a good starting point? Which version (4000k or 5000k) is good for general use?

May I suggest the Convoy S2+ for about the same price? The only downside is external charging.
