It looks like this is only sold by Walmart, so I think that is the normal price. I wouldn't expect a lot out of this.
IMO having a pillowtop mattress topper you can swap out vs a pillowtop mattress you have to completely replace makes a lot more sense, but if you want something very luxurious you'd obviously need to spend a bit more, but that's going to be 3-10x more than this easily.

It's perfect for us. After reading some reviews, we went with bamboo topper for the top layer since they are cooler than the other poly fill toppers like this one.
So, no reason you can't stack multiple to get to the comfort you are seeking.
