Personally I view this as a great deal for anyone starting out, or wanting to get into DeWalt 20V MAX. The oscillating tool and random orbital sander are both the top of the line (XR). The impact driver and drill are not the top of the line but they are both brushless and definitely solid options for DIY/homeowners. Any two of the tools plus the two batteries would be a decent deal at $199, and then you get two other tools, a bag and a compact charger.
This is a fantastic deal. Already balls deep in Makita 18v, Makita 40v, Metabo 18v and Flex 24v for my company(different crews), but half tempted to buy these just because I'm a tool nerd and its a damn good deal on great tools. Anyone worried about the drill and impact not being the brand new flagship model - unless you're regularly running 1" auger bits into deep holes or driving 1/2" lags, you'll never know the difference. I grab my subcompact 18v Makitas 99% of the time over the Makita 40v or insanely beastly Flex 24v drill and impacts and these Dewalts are more powerful than those. Kind of sucks that the drill isn't a hammer drill, but honestly, this would still be a good deal even if the drill wasn't included. Grab yourself some of the other current Slick Deals on the power stack batteries, circular saw, recip saw, and grinder and you've got yourself a fantastic set of cordless tools for an unbeatable price!

What does the "top of the line" have that these don't?

In a nutshell, less torque for both the impact and the drill. Also the drill is a drill/driver not a hammer drill (although not having hammer capabilities does make it a little more compact).

I got this deal in the weird "after christmas leftover crap" sale. Don't discount the drill and driver- they're brushless versions of the ole tried and trues. Sure they're not gonna be on torque test channel blasting the graphs apart, but they're close enough for the girls I go out with. The bag is a bag (worthless "do i throw it away?" item) but it's got a slidey plastic bottom on it. I did not throw it in the trash yet, which is a good and a bad thing.
If you buy them in store yes. Online no. In store prorates the cost between the tools. You'll see it at the register.
lol I tried to return a BOGO once and the customer service rep at lowes acted like i was taking the money out her bank account. I wonder if they get in trouble if they do it.
I was in the market for the orbital sander which goes for $169 on average. Stumbled upon this deal… no brainer. For an extra $31 you get 2 batteries and 3 other tools that retail around $100 each? Come on now.

I am tempted to return the $100 multi tool that I got from Lowe's a few days back, and grab this kit for $100 more, but I already have the M12 fuel drill and impact driver.
