During normal times, this would have been such an odd item for 1300 people to have purchased this week!

Good deal if you need a chicken coop, but...A few points:- First, a lot of work.- Second, you are unlikely to save money, even with eggs at $6/dozen.- Third, a ton of amateurs starting to raise chickens is bound to make the bird flu pandemic worse than it already is.- Fourth, if you want a pet, cats are much better pets (and dogs, to a lesser extent).- Fifth, egg prices will come back down eventually.
Quality of egg will differ from store bought which is a bonus, hopefully people buy these and offload them down the line so I can scoop one up for pennies on the dollar.

You are a very good human. Good humans buy their cats expensive gifts.

I designed and built a full sized 8x10 shed for our girls, but you're probably not gonna do any better on just materials if something like this is more what you're after.

Biggest thing I advise is to watch out for whatever flooring material it uses. If it's something like 1/8 or 1/4 sheets, I'd reinforce it with some thicker OSB underneath. Lot of people buy these cheaper kits and end up with a raccoon easily chewing through the bottoms of the exposed nesting boxes.

There is no way you're going to fit 6-8 chickens in this coop. If you are new to chickens, please do your homework. I think 2-3 would be the max for this size cool.

we use something similar for the babies until they get decent size to go with the rest of the flock. I will get the one at Costco if you have one local over this it's mostly metal keep predators out better

Speaking like someone who never raised a chicken. You missed all the fun of it. Same goes with your comment on cat vs dog.

Egg prices came down as predicted. I can get them for under $3/doz now.

Dogs are great if you like incessant barking, filthy habits, and desperate need for constant attention.

Cats are clean, understand the value of personal space, don't need baths, and doesn't suffer from wet dog smell.

In short, cats rule, dogs drool, and chickens are food, not pets.
