I would liken these "Target Refurbished" to Best Buy Excellent Condition Open Box price of $473.99. The few reviews on the target item indicate they are flawless and very recently activated with Apple based on warranty start date.

Honestly I won't be surprised if you can get these new for $400 soon. And even the m2 is way overkill for what you can actually do on the iPad. Just a bummer how sluggish my 2020 iPad Air is starting to feel in comparison.
