Blackstone has a thousand models so no one knows what your referring to but this thing is perfect for camping if you have power outlets. This is a really good deal with the flat top griddle and cover, these are pretty tried and true at this point, I use my XL for everything I can when weather permits and I have the oven model for pizzas
That just means you don't know how to use it. You put the food in AFTER ignition.

This isn't a replacement for a dedicated smoker, or even a bbq grill. It is however, small, portable, quick and convenient. Its great for a single person or small family to cook a few things up, and the smoker function ads some nice flavor. I can turn it on, and after its warm up, quickly cook a few burgers. It also cleans up easy. Only downside is it continues to emit smoke for over an hour, so you can't bring it into the house when done. Since I don't have the cover, I put it in the garage when done.

If you are hoping to use this as a smoker, I would avoid it. It pumps far too much white smoke and makes everything taste like smoke, not "smoked"

This is how I've done it: let the white smoke dissipate, then put in food. still tastes like a campfire to me. This is the most over hyped grill ever online. I use my camp chef almost exclusively, the thing is a hassle—just my 2 cents.

I would recommend this for someone starting out. It's very easy to use and if you have a question, just YouTube it. Eventually, I will use my Egg and regular smoker for larger meals, but for now, I've been using this weekly.

I just bought this. Anyone recommend any type of pellets? I read the ones they come with are not that great.

The mild one is good but the robust one I found a bit too heavy. I've been using the Kona Variety pack with 8 different flavors.

Is this a good starter option for newbies? I know almost nothing about grilling or smoking, but I do like the smaller size and profile. It also seems like I'll need to separately pickup the ninja stand (based on comments).
Before I got this I had zero knowledge about outdoor grilling or smoking outside of messing with some gas grills at apartment complexes and a George Foreman grill.

This is as easy as it gets and it's makes killer tasting stuff. I just smoked some chicken breasts tonight for me and the wife and it was legit awesome.

You can get Kirkland brand at Costco store pretty cheap (40lbs $12.99).

We have the original and it's great for the 2 of us. If you have questions about if it's for you there are lots of YouTube videos.
We infrequently use the smoke feature but it's fine for grilling outdoors using food seasoned as you like.
This is not for the chuckwagon/competitor crews, but it works well for many.

Does the Ninja stand fold up very compact? I searched for over an hour the other day to find someone reviewing it and they all skip over what it looks like folded up. I need it to be compact for the motorhome. If not I will just keep using my table.
I have the Oven version of this, I use a 4't folding table (the Lifetime brand one)

It's a pain to clean. The fan is on the top of the inside of the lid as well as some metal pieces that stick out. Very difficult to get clean, but easy to slice your finger.
