the LEDs on these are underpowered. I do not think you'll have much success growing anything that fruits (like a pepper plant). Herbs and leafy greens are about all these can grow without substantial supplemental light (either artificial or natural)

It would probably work for strawberries but I don't think you would really get enough to make it worth it. I like having access to herbs right from my kitchen without having to worry about any bugs. It's especially great for climates that can't grow outside year round or people in apartments.
oh yes definitely if you live in a colder climate, apts, I can see how helpful it could be. My only problem is the rabbits, birds, squirrels, voles decimated everything the last time we tried to keep the garden going (but got many years of great production before the critters found our garden)… but even bugs do not touch most herbs. I've only seen aphids on dill flowers… so the herbs taste exactly as they would if you grew them more naturally? Absolutely love a bite of fresh oregano, &basil

Taste is hard to say. I feel like the basil leafs from the hydroponics are bigger but I don't think they have exactly the same taste. I haven't directly compared them though.
