AGM life is typically 4-6 years. I've seen them go longer when kept near full charge at all times. in storage, a cheap 12V charger with float function, combined with an AC mechanical dial timer set to run for an hour or so a day, will keep your stored battery hot and fully topped off without "cooking" it.
Edit: I should add that storing a new battery for extended periods prior to use is generally not advisable, as it ages regardless of whether it's being used.

As far as chargers go, the ones with zero buttons or switches are the ones I use because they power up and down well without supervision. The Everstart 1 Amp linked below is great for the task; it has maintainer in the title but it's a basic charger with float. Works great with a timer on batteries 35AH and smaller. Anything larger I'd recommend a 2 amp.
For the record, I want to reach full charge cutoff voltage daily for a short period to prevent sulfation. Your car's alternator does that every day without drying out the battery.

That being said, the weather is getting warmer. A lot of times those suspect batteries work just fine until the next fall.
Think 78 Cadillac/Chevrolet era.

My original battery died due to me installing a new dashcam and not setting the proper voltage on when it should turn itself off (ended up draining my battery to 11.8v).
After charging it for 2 days and reconfiguring the dashcam to cut off at a higher voltage I've been fine.
But I do agree, if that wasn't my issue and my battery was going out, I would straight up swap it right now to prevent future issues.
