Good deal, if battery health is still "good." I didn't find any info on battery health. Anyone bought from this seller before?

eBay refurb = used.
eBay new (Other) = also used
eBay new = I got a used product once and left a bad review, they offered me to keep it for cheaper I said no and sent it back, which means my bad review was also gone and the seller with thousands of feedback still looks trustworthy.
Stopped using eBay for any kind of used stuff or from non-corporate sellers like best buy.
Unless it's from a known store like Best Buy or T-Mobile selling on eBay, none of the deals are worth using eBay.

This is half decent for running local AI LLM models.

64 Gigs of fast unified ram, it can run larger models than 1 or even 2 xx90 series nvidia cards.

Obvious mentions, 64gb of fast VRAM would be better. An M4 would be faster. But both of those things with this much ram would cost double to triple what this costs.

this was $3500 when it was launch in October 2021, something to consider.

Better off getting a M4 pro with 24GB of ram. why get a system released so long ago. Graphics would be better but other M4 pro would smoke this machine while being more efficient.

No idea about the seller or the quality of the "refurb", but I've had the same machine with a 2TB drive since late 2021 and it's still a beast. Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Figma, Safari AND Chrome with way too many tabs open running all day with nary a hiccup. On rare occasions that I have a minute to load up No Man's Sky (even though it's an ANCIENT game by the standards of earlier posters) it looks FANTASTIC. Unless an M4 MacBook Air would do all this and give you a back rub, I think anyone would be pretty happy at this price.

Not if your intended work demands a lot of unified memory (e.g. aforementioned local LLM use with midsize models).

Yes this is an 'old' machine, but it still runs circles around most Windows laptops out there - they just had tremendous performance headroom when they debuted.

My 14" M1 Max with 64GB is treating me well with no 'slowdown' whatsoever. I've got the upgrade itch, but the truth is, I don't really have much to gain from upgrading to an M3/M4 Pro or Max with 48-64GB of ram.

FYI - M1 Max is better than the regular M4. If you are on a budget and need graphic processing power then get this deal!. 64GB ram is a killer. It will blow the M4. M1 Max has more GPU core than the M4. The GPU is much faster on the M1 Max then the M4 but the M4 cpu has a higher clock rating then the M1 Max.
