Pyrex used to be made of borosilicate glass, but is now made from soda lime glass.. it can no longer handle thermal shock and can more easily shatter. Vintage Pyrex ftw ✌️😀

Probably, but not that I am aware of.. they say the logo PYREX in all caps is the original.. if not all caps, it's the newer version.

Borosilicate glass is not superior to soda lime, they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Borosilicate glass has better thermal shock and soda lime has better physical shock, but for a baking pan, I think borosilicate wins out.

Arcuisine is France's OG Pyrex brand and is still borosilicate glass. You can tell by the color of the glass. If it has a green or teal tint, it's soda lime glass. If it's a cool blue it's borosilicate.

Modern pyrex isn't worth buying, not any more than any other glass brand. But used PYREX or something like Arcuisine is absolutely worth shelling out for.

And yes, soda lime glass takes impact better. But both are going to shatter if dropped anyway, and thermal shock is what tends to break glassware. Also because Borosilicate is harder, in my experience it's less likely to break unless hit hard and then it shatters whereas soda lime glass chips a hell of a lot easier.

I bought this last time it was listed and I love it so far. Two in one, plus it's great for storing cupcakes because the tops don't get smashed.

Same here, and the HOME code is invalid in the Macy's app.
