Pretty neat, but still seems a little on the expensive side for a USB hub.

a c clamp is $3..an unpowered usb 3.0 hub is $5 all day long. $14 for glue and plastic?

https://www.amazon.com/QUICK-GRIP...00004S9KD/ <-- $3
https://www.amazon.com/Expander-C...0B6W4H993/ <-$4.99
https://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-M...0C1MJ5NBF/ <-- this one is $3.99

Orico regularly pays Slickdeals to pimp their products. Don't believe me? Do a quick scan in the forum for Orico and try to find one that was NOT posted by slickdeals staff or a newbie with less than 10 posts.

Buy some velcro tape from the dollar store and save your money. There is even extra strong velcro that can handle 10-15lbs of weight.

Ebay has the identical orico c clamp model for $14 all day long so do the math on how much you are really "saving". https://www.ebay.com/itm/156274331023

Agree with you that it's overpriced but the one at amazon is usb-c in the back and has one usb-c in the front. The eBay one is usb micro (!) in the back and all 4 ports in the front are USB-A. So not at all the same device.

As for the clamp & glue solution: would be a fun project but that's janky and my time is worth money.

Again: no disagreement that it's overpriced for what it is. But I have two older models for different use cases and am happy with my purchases. I like the look and the convenience.

I wasn't actually suggesting using the c clamp. Just comparing prices. It may be usb-c but it's usb 3.0 which means it's 5gbps which is the same speeds those other hubs will give you. No need to waste your usb-c port on a usb hub when you can at least get 10gbps from the typical modern pc if not 20gbps. A more realistic solution is take the hub you have now and add a strip of velcro with the other strip on the desk. It's not going anywhere even if you plug and unplug cables. I use the same velcro to hold ssd's in case's where no more slots are available.

All this is irrelevant when the exact same item is on ebay new for $14 as I previously linked to.
Mine are primarily used for Yubikey, keyboards and mice so I'm not in the market. But the one you linked on eBay is not the "exact same item" as you keep claiming.

Ok that item plus a usb-a to usb-c adapter because the usb-c passthrough isn't going to be useful for powering any devices and the 5gbps is gonna slow down the port to usb 3.0 speeds. If you really want a device like this spend the extra $6 to get a usb 3.2(10gbps) from the same company WITH the usb-c you talked about except it has 6 ports including a sd card reader.

But it is not the exact same item... The one you linked literally has a different port combo (arguably worse with no front usb c).

What's the point of that USB-C or micro-USB port in the back?

The one on amazon claims it's for additional power, so maybe same on the eBay one.

Got it thanks. So it doesn't seem like it matters as much as long as it provides the power. Granted USB-C is going to be more convenient for a long time to come and microUSB is EOL pretty much.

Lol and you have to use a code to pay double for something you can easily find on TEMU for less than $10.
