Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

Thank you to both of you!
I am super cheap and use rest of my family's hand me down phones so no dual SIMs in my phone/s.
I will check if my wife's phone has that dual sim feature. Do I need to deal with the carrier/TM to switch to eSIM?

I guess there is no such ting as cross port (not sure if thats the right way to describe or name it) lines withing the same pan ? I mean take number form the paid line and put it on the free line and vice versa.
No you can't. Ever considered hopping on that $500 off iPhone 16 promo that is still ongoing? If you have a phone that qualifies as a trade-in to get the $500, you'd pretty much get a free iPhone 16 when you factor in the $10 Kickback you'd be getting by utilizing the dual SIM capability. That's $240 over the two years you'd be on the EIP. And man, your wife will thank you in each and every thinkable way too if you're catching my drift...

Nope, you don't need a spare phone. You can activate it through eSIM if you want. They'll ship the SIM card to you once they confirm you qualify. They waived the activation and SIM fee for me.
This is not correct. When I chatted with a rep via Tmobile chatting system, he requested me to provide a IMEI. Without a IMEI, he couldn't proceed with the promo because it is BYOD.

u/MrEdLu [reddit.com] just had their bill posted. Read the thread carefully and completely. ID250259 did not show on their Cost Details page, and still does not after the bill. However, the new bill generated with ID250259 (thread includes screenshot). Additionally, they confirmed that the 2 free line max ceiling is not enforced by T-mobile's billing system.
I agree. Currently, it's mainly the agent or T-force gate keeping the customer with 2+ free lines from adding it. If you manage to add a line, you will get the promo automatically (as long as you are targeted).

try a different agent. Never took one agent's word as policy.

I'm using the free line I activated yesterday. I saw a banner on the T-Life app saying I qualified for a free line, it redirected me to a number to call. I spoke with an agent who confirmed my eligibility and asked if I wanted to activate it via eSIM or SIM card. I went with the SIM card option, and the agent waived the activation fee and shipped it to me. By the way, check out the T-Mobile reddit threads - overwhelming majority opted for a SIM card. Never mentioned that I needed to give them an IMEI #. Just because your experience was different doesn't mean I'm wrong.

I called and the rep told me that this is for those who already have 2+ lines on their account. What kind of BS is this? I pay more than some people with 3-4 lines and yet those same people are getting extra, free lines added to their accounts while I get nothing??

You cannot self-migrate by adding another line. T-Force or 611 needs to do that.

How many paid/free lines on your account?
Ah ok i see. I have 2 paid 6 free atm.

I read that you need a minimum of 2 paid lines to qualify.

Insider? Even without, and even if the new line is not free, you may be saving money adding another line.

Referring to threads like these? [reddit.com] Basically everyone has a different experience with their SOC. I'm on TIULFM9 and kickback always worked fine.

I recommend leaving the plan as is and just wait for the upcoming bill(s). The more changes you make the more possibilities of things messing up.

I get kickback on TIULFM9. If you do end up needing to change, FRLTULF9 does not exist (typo?). The other SOC is FRLTULFM9.

You can read all the different posts [reddit.com] about everyone's different experiences with these 2 SOCs.

How do you get Kickback discount? Free lines arent eligible for kickback, and paid lines over 2 GB usage wont get kickback, how do you make it happen?

Free lines are not free lines anymore for accounting purposes when you are on the 9+ line plan. Meaning, you pay one base price for 9 lines and then the free line discounts are taken on account level vs. at line level. Meaning, a free line is just a regular line now with a line discount on account level, and regular lines are eligible for KB. All one needs to do (and this is the hardest part) is to get the SOC code for KB added to each of the 9 base lines.

Edit: to clarify, on a 2-8 line plan each line above 2 is an AAL (add a line). On a 9 line plan every line 10 and up is AAL and not eligible for KB.

No problem. Do it today if at all possible, word is on Reddit that one of the free line promos (the second one) may end after today.
