I would buy them at TJ Maxx or HomeGoods if you have one close by...bought one on clearance for $2 and they are good and last.....my 2 cents

you shouldnt cheap on a can opener. get something from oxo with a good grip that wont fall apart.

I've got a few different cheap amazon ones that all work great. I feel like for some odd reason I am drawn to every can opener thread and people always seem to say that Kuhn Rikon is the best. I don't have one so I can't say, but for their price they better last a lifetime.
I just checked my amazon history and it seems all the one's i've bought are no longer available but there's loads of ones with good reviews for around $10. Here's my current goto https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DP1CZJY, fyi i bought it back in 2016. Or just search for safe cut can opener or side cut can opener and you'll have loads to choose from.
I've even had a couple different battery operated automatic ones, they're hit and miss. The one I have been using for years now no longer unlocks the latch when it stops so I have to fight the lid and opener to get it off the can.

I got a sidecut can opener about a year ago, and let me tell you, I am NOT going back.

No sharp edges, and you can put the lid back on and put the leftovers in the refrigerator if you need to.

I didn't pay more than $7 for it at Walmart. I don't remember the exact price, but it was cheap.

I honestly like the OLD PamperChef side cut such a simple study design no plastic but like $30 used on Ebay.! I got like 25 years ago.

Had it go bad after a couple of years and Zyliss replaced it no questions asked. Because, according to my wife, can openers just magically break.
But the side openers are a must-have if you have kids. It's not that I don't trust my daughter with a can opener (actually trust her more than my wife), so much as there is little reason to not take the risk of getting cut out entirely.

i have bought multiple of can openers from different sellers/places and they are all rusty after a while. Is it possible to get a good one somewhere? I am happy to pay extra.

This is a really nice can opener. I had bought it in January and paid full price, and I would pay full price again, because it's so nice and very heavy, which makes it. easy to open the cans.
