Can anyone confirm whether or not this is brushless? I can't find any mention of that in the pictures or product description, which suggests to me it isn't. It's such a desirable attribute that vendors tend to emphasize that if it's present.

I have this trimmer and an older 60V Craftsman trimmer and the Craftsman runs circles around the Greenworks. The Greenworks is just not as powerful and is only good for light trimming.

I've owned this for about 5 years now, and I have no complaints. I bought this while living in the south, and it actually outperformed my gas trimmer on thick weeds and grass. I changed out the head for an easy load echo unit. I prefer the 60V series, but most stores carry the 40 and 80V series.

I have this. It's a great trimmer for regular household use. Easy to use. For heavy duty work there are better options out there. I use this around the house and the fact it's not the strongest actually seems like a perk in my situation as there's less things my kids can destroy while trimming.

I have the tools like this in 60v and the mower in 80v. I've had to replace both the 80v batteries, one of the 60v batteries and one trimmer under warranty.

If you buy this, make sure you register and keep proof of purchase. I registered everything at purchase and have had to call for warranty support multiple times. The last time I called, magically my registrations were gone. They told me they couldn't do anything without proof of purchase now that my original registration was gone. Luckily I still had it listed under purchases through HD app.

I upgraded from the older 40v greenworks mower and tools. I had batteries degrade over time but never failures like the new ones and never had to replace a tool.

Thank you coastalconn! Brushless and a higher capacity battery are well worth a measily $9 premium.

I'm sticking with the 60v system solely to rationalize commonality with my battery packs. The only other cordless ecosystem I'm invested in is Ryobi's 18 volt range. I've been very happy with Ryobi, so I was leaning towards their 40v cordless lawn tool range. But when I found a terrific deal (here on SD, naturally) for the Greenworks 60volt cordless chainsaw, I bit. That saw has proven to be an unexpectedly competent tool, so when (another SD) deal came up on their leaf blower I bought that, which has likewise been a very good performer. (I bought it primarily to clear leaves off my loose stone walkway - raking them pulled as many rocks as leaves onto my lawn. My only complaint with the Greenworks: it has absolutely no difficulty blowing rocks as well as the leaves unless I'm really careful with the variable speed trigger.) So at that point I was kind of committed to Greenworks 60volt for lawn tools.

A string trimmer is what initially sparked my interest in cordless lawn tools, so it's ironic I'm only now getting around to purchasing one, due to your link. So, I really mean it: thanks!

Note to lurkers who are considering their first cordless lawn care tool: I used to think things like a battery powered chainsaw were basically toys; PlaySkool imitations of the real thing, but that's just not true anymore. Greenworks rarely tests out as the absolute best in multi tool round ups (that honor generally goes to Ego - the creme-de-la-creme). But Greenworks are more affordable and at least for their chainsaw and leaf blower (and I hope for the string trimmer), are still shockingly good at what they do.
