Yeah any furniture I've seen made from Composite has been cheap and bad with liquids warping it if not cleaned immediately.

I don't believe the $650 retail price given its particleboard.

"Engineered Wood". Just call it particle board and be honest about it.

Apparently the milk in the crack is the issue

This heavily depends on what they have glued on the surface. If it's sealed properly it will last a lifetime.

That said, I wouldn't get anything but a hardwood for a dining table.

I enjoy a large glass of milk just like any reasonable person. Would this table be able to accommodate my lifestyle?

This quite honestly seems like an awesome computer desk. Does anyone know the exact depth of the front to back dimension for the wider flip-up section? If deep enough it can be enough surface area for a gaming mouse pad so that one can stand and game if they have a monitor on a spring arm.
I was thinking the same thing. It looks to be 4, maybe 5 inches deep. But it would need some modification because the compartment doesn't have any airflow

Not a bad idea, we have a coffee table like this and it's great, kids use it to eat, easy storage for all the remotes and chargers and crap. For a dining table I agree the crack is a problem. For a desk it might be ok if you don't keep things permanently on top of your desk, like a flex work space.

Whole heartedly agree on quality, Sauder is NOT good quality. It's definitely sawdust and wood glue, and not the higher end wood glue. Sauder pieces are best used for decoration, not actual use.

don't know what the designer was thinking...what is the point of lifting half the top up?!
when it is up, you cannot use it as dining table, and you lose a whole lot of useable desktop asset for stuff, not to mention the milk problem through the arse crack!~

price is not bad, just the design is kind of retard.

Oh i meant the big top part that extends up. Reading the dimensions on their one picture it looks to be 17" deep from front to back, that's enough for a large mouse pad, keyboard and other things. Just concerned whether the springs creak over time and how much weight can be put on that part.

So there's no finish on this? It's rough?
