That list price is fake so don't think this price today is 50% off. At best this is 10$ off the same price its been since 2023 (has been as low as $121 IIRC).
The non-heatsink version is only $13 more. You really want to put your warranty in jeopardy for $13?

To answer your question -- probably. I had a few Nextorage SSD's with heatsink that I wanted to put in laptops and tried taking the heatsink off. It's doable, but it leaves behind a bunch of gunk that needed cleaning off the SSD chips (I use contact cleaner spray). It's a lot of work, definitely more than the $13 difference.

Can you remove the heatsink so this can be used on a laptop? I am surprised that the non-heatsink version is more expensive at $145.

Every external enclosure I've seen expects no heatsink.

I've had good luck with this one https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Ty...08RVC6F9Y/

Using "Keepa" it says it's been about 145 for the past 3 months.

Pretty much any SSD that meets the minimum requirements for the PS5 is usable. This is a better option than some of the others, however, to me, this is not a great price.

Why do you say that? What's better about this one in real world application and usage for a casual gamer?

there's virtually nothing on slickdeals where the before/list price is the reality of a prior most of the time legit price. everyone knows that, right?

You would be surprised at the number of people on here and ones you know personally that do not.

Random amazon reviews say its probably not removable or maybe if you're really careful, I don't really know that part. My research said it was going to be the best option for perf and temperature in a laptop, and I got the non heatsink version for my legion 5. It's been 5 months and I have no complaints, read speeds over 7000, normal business use with tons of tabs and apps open its currently 35C degrees. I paid 145.
