As I sell 100+ products and combinations, I simply use the Square App loaded on a 5G capable tablet, connected to the Bluetooth Square card reader.
I run two terminals this way-never an issue.
I also don't recall Square trying to upsell me on any other products/devices. Maybe an occasional email? 🤔 I just don't recall anything recently...
Not only that, but Square Support doesn't even connect me to someone to troubleshoot all of its problems. No, instead they'll "call you back". Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, maybe never. But never on the weekends, only during your 8-5 mon-fri.
Lastly - offline mode doesn't work, full stop. How stupid is it that you can only enable "offline payments" ONCE per 24 hours. So if you're hotspotting at a festival/event, and your hotspot goes out for a second a couple times. Or god forbid you have to reboot it. Or your internet comes up, and goes out again, you're completely screwed.
The iPad terminal has been great, but it's a lot to carry around. The square terminal is just complete junk though. No one will ever change my mind on that.
Hotspotted to my phone, works all day.
We get busy enough that I'm considering a 2nd unit, because this terminal is MUCH better than the reader obviously.. and FASTER.
To the person above, just make sure you have reliable 5G service.
