No one should buy into an eco system that the US government is considering banning due to CCP backdoors in their products.

TP-Link is one of the most popular router manufacturers in the US, but the company is facing a potential ban due to security concerns about its links to China. A December report from The Wall Street Journal revealed that the US Commerce, Defense, and Justice Departments are investigating TP-Link, though no evidence of deliberate wrongdoing has yet emerged.

"We are a US company," Jeff Barney, president of TP-Link told WIRED, "We have no affiliation with TP-Link Tech, which focuses on mainland China, and we can prove our separateness."

just a note that some cruise lines have banned the use of travel routers......so don't think this is somehow ok on those cruise ships.

TP-LINK routers are designed and made in China. The backdoors are baked in by the CCP. I would not be shocked to know that most of the leadership of the "USA" company is chinese, with just an american citizen figurehead. Same old CCP ploy. The US government doesn't say they're considering banning a brand entirely just for giggles.

I had the older version previously and that worked great during flights, hotel stays and Starbucks visits. This one is probably even better.

^ Seems to be the case with most of the electronics. Some parts or whole is from China.

Whose fault is that? There's nothing made in the US, if they ban every router we have on the market today, we will be left with no routers in this country. Yeah let's ban them all. Pretty sure none of y'all would pay $300+ for a basic router made in the US.
