I do not know how the government can tax the majority of consumer products (imports) without resulting in the slowing of economic activity. I hope we all do well, time will tell

That CPU is anemic. Ancient. Its not even an SD 855, and that is super old.
Sure the CPU is old... but when paired with 8GB of RAM it is fast enough to give you a decent Android experience.
Also, you will be hard pressed to find a better tablet for the same price. And having updates is a good thing.

I promise you, having a good add blocker will speed up your tablet.

For $150+, I guess I'll give this a try. Would be nice to compare this and the 10th gen iPad that I got for $200 from another deal on here. I've tested the 10th gen iPad for work stuff and it's worked fine for what we do.

Wife previously had an A tablet (from 2016?) but last year got an S tablet. I'm still using the A tablet for Twitch watching - there is some noticeable lag on app startup and as I start a new stream, but it does still work for that purpose. This has to be a lot better.

As far as a deal... this is it. With 8GB and a SD695, it is the slowest you want to go and still have a decent Android experience.
This tablet is on par with the G99 (same speed as the SD695) Chinese tablets and is also on par with price. And having updates is a big deal with Android so I say it is a deal.
This tablet can do almost everything... just not that well. Games will not be able to be played at the highest settings but they will play.
My only app recommendation is to download the app... "killapps" and run it every time you start your tablet. I have this app on every one of my devices and find it helps. Also, try not to keep to many internet tabs and apps opened at the same time. I like using a very good add blocker, I use ublock origion which just got banned from the google store with Kiwi browser.
There was some talk above about the ipad mini... if you want the 8.4" form factor I would suggest getting the iplay 60 mini turbo by alldocube... sells for about 140ish on aliexpress. It has a IPS panel vs the A9+ TFT panel, it has usb 3.1 (that does HDMI out, BIG DEAL) vs the A9+ usb 2.0 and the iplay has a snapdragon 6 gen 1 CPU/GPU which is like 30% faster, both have 8GB of RAM and 128GB hard drive and micro SD slot. I personally prefer the 8.4" form factor and have the iplay 60 mini turbo and love it. I also have Tab S9 (gave to my kid) and a Chromebook Lenovo Duet 5 but it only has 4GB, so I use killapps on this device all the time. And with my Chromebook I sideload ublock origin and use it with Chrome.
What would you suggest in the 10-11 inch range with built in GPS. I've cobbled up an in car setup with a FireHD 10, using an app hooked up to an old LG phone that sends GPS via Bluetooth. You can only send GPS via BT with Android 9 or below. I hot spot the Cell signal from my current phone. It works surprisingly well using Google Maps and Waze, but wires and devices everywhere. I'd like a better tablet, with GPS and I'd be able to remove the LG phone from the combo. If I wanted the size mentioned above, I'd be all over it.

I have 2 family members that can supply an EDU password, and they could buy this under their names and I'd pay them. GPS even if offered many times isn't even mentioned in the specs these days.

I have the 4GB version from Metro. It's really slow out of the box, and with all the Metro bloatware.
Searched online and found some tweaks and that greatly reduced the lag. Now it's at least useable.
If you feel 8GB is still slow, maybe can try some of the tweaks:

Doesn't the A9+ have GPS? And if you can handle a smaller screen, there is the iplay mini 60 pro... it has a G99, 8GB of RAM 128GB or 256GB, dual Sim tray with one being micro SD slot. It is basically the identical speed to the A9+ and you get it on aliexpress for cheap.
But if you are looking for a larger screen, I think the A9+ would work but please research that first.

Yes, the A9+ does have GPS. This one is a deal if I can get a family member to purchase it with their EDU. I noticed the Lenovo K11 here on SD and you weren't too thrilled with the G88. No idea if that has GPS. Thanks for the prompt reply. For my needs, the A9+ would probably be perfect. But you know how this goes. You found "The Item", but all of a sudden you want more. More, that you may never need. But you want it.

I have this from previous deal. I think it's best in class for the price.
Turn off RAM plus to see if it helps with the lag.

I got 5 of these free through metro 🤪 new tablet. Waited a week and moved all lines to 5$ plan then.. In 3 months I'll cancel so I paid 175 for 5 tablets...

They are the piece of crap 4gb but for kids or to give away its a good deal.

You can't really compare a ipad to a android tablet. IMHO, the ipad will win every time.
And you want to compare a ipad to the bottom of the line Android tablet... this is really not a fair comparison. I love Android and Microsoft because it allows the user to do what the hell the user wants.
