i can describe it as the fastest slow tablet
Also, you will be hard pressed to find a better tablet for the same price. And having updates is a good thing.
Wife previously had an A tablet (from 2016?) but last year got an S tablet. I'm still using the A tablet for Twitch watching - there is some noticeable lag on app startup and as I start a new stream, but it does still work for that purpose. This has to be a lot better.

This tablet is on par with the G99 (same speed as the SD695) Chinese tablets and is also on par with price. And having updates is a big deal with Android so I say it is a deal.
This tablet can do almost everything... just not that well. Games will not be able to be played at the highest settings but they will play.
My only app recommendation is to download the app... "killapps" and run it every time you start your tablet. I have this app on every one of my devices and find it helps. Also, try not to keep to many internet tabs and apps opened at the same time. I like using a very good add blocker, I use ublock origion which just got banned from the google store with Kiwi browser.
There was some talk above about the ipad mini... if you want the 8.4" form factor I would suggest getting the iplay 60 mini turbo by alldocube... sells for about 140ish on aliexpress. It has a IPS panel vs the A9+ TFT panel, it has usb 3.1 (that does HDMI out, BIG DEAL) vs the A9+ usb 2.0 and the iplay has a snapdragon 6 gen 1 CPU/GPU which is like 30% faster, both have 8GB of RAM and 128GB hard drive and micro SD slot. I personally prefer the 8.4" form factor and have the iplay 60 mini turbo and love it. I also have Tab S9 (gave to my kid) and a Chromebook Lenovo Duet 5 but it only has 4GB, so I use killapps on this device all the time. And with my Chromebook I sideload ublock origin and use it with Chrome.
I have 2 family members that can supply an EDU password, and they could buy this under their names and I'd pay them. GPS even if offered many times isn't even mentioned in the specs these days.
Searched online and found some tweaks and that greatly reduced the lag. Now it's at least useable.
If you feel 8GB is still slow, maybe can try some of the tweaks:

But if you are looking for a larger screen, I think the A9+ would work but please research that first.

Turn off RAM plus to see if it helps with the lag.
They are the piece of crap 4gb but for kids or to give away its a good deal.

And you want to compare a ipad to the bottom of the line Android tablet... this is really not a fair comparison. I love Android and Microsoft because it allows the user to do what the hell the user wants.
