I'm assuming this has plastic tubing on the inside for the hot water? Trying to limit my exposure of plastic with hot water lately so trying to be more informed before purchases.

I side-graded from the Breville Barista express (8 years old) to this one which was given to me as an unsolicited gift. I've tried them both side by side and I think I am pretty representative of your average user.

The Breville was really hard to get decent espresso out of at first, and by decent espresso I am just saying that it is comparable enough to a coffee shop for me to not have the daily desire to skip it and go out and get a $5 latte. Once I bought fresh beans from a roaster that were under 1 month old I got it humming pretty well. It was a pain to figure out grind size, tamping pressure, etc to the point where I went through a couple pounds of beans before I got there. I could never quite get the steam wand to produce quality frothed milk, so we ended up buying a separate frother for that purpose. Can't say whether that is user error or the machine, but either way it's not easy.

I've used the Ninja with the same bean type, and it took way more pulls than the 3 they advertised to get it dialed in, but far less than the 1lb+ it took on the Breville. I'm a big fan of the cold-pressed for iced coffee and the milk frother system is top notch. Perfect milk every time, including cold foam, with no learning curve at all since it's all automated.

Overall I still think the Breville slightly outperforms the Ninja in espresso quality but the user-friendly features of the Ninja and the fact that it also replaced drip coffee for the older generation when they visit pushed it over the edge for me. I have now retired the Breville.

Same as previous FP but retail price and GC both went up $50, so a bit more tax. https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/1062259

Does this fall under Costco 90 day return policy?

I ordered when the banner said $150 GC. I better be getting it and not the $100 as it is stated now. Nothing in my order details specifies the amount of the GC though.

I had the same thought and went looking for the details in my order. Sure enough, no amount is mentioned.

Your math works if you already have a costco difference and maybe live in a no sales tax state. For those who aren't members yet, they have to factor in membership cost. Also if you live in a state with 5-7% sales tax, that's another $10-$14. Heck, if you're treating the gift card as cash, then to redeem the gift card, you'll also be paying for sales tax on those future purchases. I'm not convincing you to buy the woot version but your analysis makes a bunch of assumptions...including that you're going to keep your annual membership for 10 years so you can return it then. Enjoy that, the psychological hold Costco has on its customers is exactly why I'm a Costco investor but not a Costco member.
Interesting take on a Costco membership. I've been a member for over 20 years, never felt I was being held hostage and have used their generous return policy a few times over the years, but not the reason I'm a member.

Supposedly later this year. I want one of these, but i want the single shot basket also, plus the built in tamper, and hot water dispenser. It will cost more, but I would like to have these few features.
I use the hot water dispenser on my breville daily. I can't give that up. Good looking out.

I've had this machine for about 6 months now and it makes amazing coffee consistently. I haven't had to do any maintenace yet and I haven't had any issues. The milk steamer is awesome as well. A lot of my friends said this machine was garbage but they've never even tried it.

Was told by CS the promotion was always 100$. I called BS on that so they would send a customer satisfaction form for the extra 50$.

So we have to contact customer service just to get the money we should have gotten originally?

That's what i was told but you might have different luck with a different cs. It's extra steps but still come out with 150$ gc if they do end up sending 2 GCs. Very misleading though

I spoke with CS and they said I'll receive a shop card for whatever the amount showed when I ordered it. Not sure now much I trust that. I pushed but they basically just said "trust me bro."

Wow this is an incredibly dirty move from Costco. I'm a bit surprised to see them pull something like this.

I don't believe so. I purchased the Philips 3200 in sept/october and I still have the option to return it online. Might do so and get this instead.
