Agreed, there's nothing wrong with sodium for normal healthy people. This is broth, I doubt many people just drink it alone. It's used for cooking, most likely with food that is unsalted. I'm not a fan of weak unsalted foods. shake head

I haven't tried this but I noticed in the ingredient label that they are both listed as "stocks" which often means that it could be more concentrated, and I noticed the protein amount per serving is 2g for the chicken and 3g for the beef, and this is normally higher than other broths that have 1g or less of protein.

Is it not better to buy a whole chicken for $5 to make your own broth?

Yes, it is, and I normally bone the chicken and use the carcass, or, if I have thighs, use the bones to slowly cook during the day to make a rich stock. The trouble is storing it and having it ready for your soup or sauce when you need it.

If one just needs broth or stock for a quick soup, you have much more planning and prep of you need to buy chicken(or beef) and cook it for half a day. The leftover cartilage, along with some bone marrow, become a special treat for the cats.

For comparison, Costco's Kirkland organic chicken stock is $8.99 in store (~$1.50 each) with less sodium (440mg) and no added sugars.
