Seems like a great deal on the new delta pro ultra setup. 52.50/kWh cost is the lowest I have seen this setup offered for! You also have the ability to add the smart panel for an additional $900.

This exact DPU 12kWh set was down to $5999 promo ($1000 off Costco every day price online) several times last year. Hopefully we see that again

Or the $7999 18kWh DPU ($1000 off regular 8999 Costco every day price online)

i don't know if you meant 'new' as in not used, but the delta pro ultra has been out for more than a year, so the model is not exactly new.

I meant "new" as in the latest.

What is the return window for this one? 3 months like electrical stuff or no deadline?
My concern is that it runs well for 1 year and then it craps out or battery degrades more rapidly than advertised and I might want to return it.

Is this set all you need to have a whole home battery backup automatically? To be more clear can I buy this and then tell my electrician "Install this please" and after that when the power to the house goes out I don't notice anything and I don't have to do anything and it will keep running till the batteries run out?

The Delta Pro Smart Home Panel 2 (SHP2) is basically designed for that scenario, with a couple of caveats.

https://www.ecoflow.com/us/smart-home-panel-2

1. SHP2 is a subpanel with a 100A grid input limit. So for example, your master panel might be 200A and have circuits for upstairs/downstairs HVAC and the input to SHP2; then SHP2 could power the rest of the house.
2. SHP2 is a separate purchase, retail $1600 but commonly bundled with DPU for about $1k. Installation separate, get a quote at the page above
3. Figure out how much power (appliances running at once) and how much energy (how long you need to run them for). That will determine how many DPU inverters and how many batteries you need. This unit might supply basic loads (fridges, lights, small devices) for a day or more with solar; or more intense loads (small HVAC, heavier appliances, electric clothes dryer, etc) for a few hours.

Also the SHP2 has a circuit limit of 60a which is probably fine, but not guaranteed, for your situation. That's double the similar Jackery product though.

Definitely better than going with the old Delta Pros to incorporate with the Smart Home Panel 2. Way more solar input, less idle battery usage, more streamlined battery setup, no dual voltage hub uneven discharging issues etc...this is just not portable really...perfect for a permanent setup. The old Delta Pro is still cool to take camping or whatever, with a 400w foldable solar panel for free electric while you're in the woods.
