1 - We get the symbiote suit origin story ( Secret Wars 8 was released in the fall of 1984, while Amazing Spider-Man 252 (first appearance of symbiote) was released in the Spring of 84, and readers were left confused for 6 months waiting for the origin story ASM referenced)
2 - Builds up Doctor Doom as the BIG BAD, surpassing Magneto and Galactus in the process.
This is a good price nonetheless, but new readers will be seriously let down.

Secret Wars is only important for the origin of various post-war events, like Spider-Man's symbiote suit and The Thing leaving. It's basically the cliched battle world saga that most franchises have. Disney is hoping to boost sales of a comic series that's been out for 40 years to promote the movie that most likely won't even be faithful to its source material...
