4th Generation and legacy network-connected Tablo DVRs allow streaming to compatible devices anywhere in your home. However, there is no method to copy/save/export recorded Tablo video onto a device for later offline viewing.
Furthermore, Tablo recordings on external hard drives are not saved in a standard file format and therefore are not playable on other devices.
I really don't want to stream live sports since with Tivo I can record them and start watching an hour later, skip commercials and finish around the same end time. Table does this too?

Some users have better experiences than others, but there are too many mishaps overall. Some improvements over time (via updates), but it's reliability is still highly questionable. That's not just from my own experiences. That's from other forums, where there have been many complaints (ever since it's inception).
This pro review paints a more realistic picture (from a true pro, as compared to the "Digital Trends" writer). The more positive reviews may have been solicited or the device was only used short term. There have been some improvements since this review was published, but it still has numerous problems (as I outlined in a previous post here and others have here as well)....

2-3 months would be at least somewhat acceptable. There are issues with this product that haven't been resolved since it's inception....and that's almost two years ago (19 months, to be exact....August, 2023)!
Some markets will be shutting down ATSC 1 as soon as 2027. There is a rule that ATSC 1 must be shut down 5 years after beginning transmission of ATSC 3.

Hope the tablo keeps working for me
Can this be used for streaming? For instance can I just patch in an HDMI and ANYTHING on the screen is able to record? I'm not sure if HDCP would come into play but let's say a local instance of Plex where my *legally ripped!* blurays aren't sitting there with HDCP.

Most of local channels are yellow or orange for me.. You might need a very beefy antenna depending on area.
The problem is that there are too many questions and not enough answers re: encrypted ATSC 3.0. Also, too few TV's and other devices incorporating new tuners. It's truly annoying, but there's no point in hesitating if you need a TV/device. Although there's nothing definitive, just like with the analog to digital conversion, they'll likely be a converter of some sort. They can't leave so many consumers just twisting in the wind and/or having to purchase new products!

This device isn't used for streaming on it's own. You'll need a separate streaming device/related app for each TV, or you can also use a portable device (IE, phone, or tablet). There is no HDMI port included. It basically provides the tuner and program guide, which, in conjunction with the appropriate streaming app, accesses your local network. HDCP protocols aren't a factor.
