This ram is just fine. I paid $158 a month or so ago. Mine were Samsung DRAM chips showing a build date of week 50 of 2024. They worked first boot without adjustments.

If you mean running Windows and games completely inside a RAM disk (as the VM host), it shouldn't matter that much either. That's also a rather minority situation that maybe only a handful of people buying this would realistically do.

Personally, if I'm buying some desktop RAM that I'll run for years, I'd probably bump up to faster RAM, but if you need loads of decent RAM, this is a solid deal.

tbh whoever needs that performance with ram shouldn't get 96gb set. Should go with 32 or 64 with higher clockspeed for gaming.

I remember my company paying close to 1 MILLION $ for 760MB (Megabyte) of RAM for SGI Onyx server (mid 90's).
I still chuckle at me getting giddy paying $730 for 700MB Hard drive back then too. Such a bargain at $1 per MEG.

Got these sticks while ago for around the same price, pretty sure these stay in $150~160 range most of the time so not sure if I can call these as deal. Don't really know why these particular sticks cost so much less but it works fine for workloads. It's 4800 native and xmp'd on 5200 so I wouldn't have any hope to overclock these if anyone wonders.
