Apparently the Sta-Green brand mulch is the same as the previous generic bags that just said "Premium Mulch" on them. Will be stopping by Lowe's tomorrow to stock up on mulch and perennials!

Mulch is supplied regionally. I'm in the mid-atlantic and my bags have all been pretty good. They're not triple ground and fine, at all. But if you put down enough it blocks light and it will break down within 2 years, especially if you refresh with a new layer so the old stuff stays damp. Since I have a semi-wooded lot, the bigger mulch pieces seem appropriate. I'd want better mulch if I had a sterile looking lawn around my house.

I don't see the mulch deal either. Mine is $3.98 a bag in Ohio. Mulch is hit or miss. I have gotten good bags, moldy bags and bags that had plastic, broken CD's, rubber chucks, parts of a pulley belt, pieces of tarp and so on.

Has to be location specific, like you said. I only see $3.98 in the Springfest ad. Which is odd, I think because I'm in the Northeast and I have gotten 5 for 10 before. Maybe I need to check Home Depot this weekend.

Haven't used the string trimmer yet. Leaf blower is a nice improvement over my gas-powered backpack leaf blower, though. Much lighter and more maneuverable.

I used the 40v trimmer and blower for years. It's a great kit. I was worried the battery was too small but it's lasted multiple runs before needing to charge. Definitely recommend at this price.
