Pizza is not free. It is actually $5. Last deal was for $20. These things keep going up..
His point was that since this deal is $5 more than the last deal but includes a pizza, you are technically paying $5 for the pizza.

For the past year or two, memberships are pretty regularly $20, so I think it's fair to compare against previous deals to know whether this is a good price or not.

In previous years they were free or money makers - eg the "Join for $45, get a $45 gift card" stacked with a $25 AMEX credit offers - which haven't been around for a few years now and probably aren't coming back.
Damnit. Just joined last week without the pizza too.

Did the tmobile deal that was supposed to include the free pizza, but the deal didn't auto-apply in the app like it was supposed to. Customer service in the store refused to help.

Yeah same issue... Pizza coupon wasn't on account. You can't even check beforehand via ordering from the cafe online (unless you spoof your GPS to be near club)

In store customer service was clueless about the offer and told me to ask the T-Mobile guys at their in store stand. 😣

Online CS eventually gave me a $10 gift card to compensate.

Definitely wasn't worth the time and effort to fix though.

T-Mobile customer service in store?
I think that was referring to Sam's Club customer service. T-Mobile does nothing but sell phone service in-store - they know nothing about anything else, as it isn't their job.

That deal doesn't exist any longer, this deal does and it certainly includes the pizza for free with the cost of membership. It's silly to compare an existing deal with a previous deal that is no longer available.

I understand the point he was trying to make. I also understand $20 (and lower) deals have occurred in the past. None of those deals exist currently, so it's not an option to get a membership for $20 and save $5 because you don't want pizza. The cheapest option for membership is $25, and it comes with a free pizza. That's it.

The only other alternatives are to pay full price or wait for a better deal.

So if saving $5 to avoid "paying for pizza" is worth it to ya, go ahead and twiddle your fingers...

I mean, this is a site about saving money. Lol

But if you need a membership today and don't qualify for their everyday $20 memberships (eg college graduate, student, healthcare worker, military, teacher, government employee, senior, etc), go for it.

Report the credit card you used previously as lost and CC company will issue a new one with new number. Also easy to get new phone number...Google Voice, etc. And once membership is active, you can change it back to a number you've used before.

Question for those who have both memberships, what do you purchase at Sam's Club instead of at Costco?

Cancelled my Costco years ago, so can't speak to your question. But Sam's Scan & Go app feature is awesome. Never wait in lines. Big problem at my local Costco according to friends.

I rotate between Costco, Sam's and BJ's as they are all close to me. I join whichever one has a moneymaker/free/almost free membership offer.

Sam's custom cakes are the big differentiator compared to Costco. I've done multi-tier cakes for events with customizations and they are cheap. I think a 3 tier cake we got with woodland animal theming for a baby shower was $70.

Sams has smaller sizes for many things which is nice. I often find great clearance deals at Sam's as well (search SD for some examples).

You can get free tire repairs, rotations and balancing on any tires (you don't need to have bought them there).

They sell more tire brands as well compared to Costco and BJ's (eg Continental, Pirelli, etc).

Sams will price match Walmart since they are the same company (although kinda rare it's cheaper at Walmart)

Anyone have issues with using scan and go for fuel? I renewed last week using the email and phone number trick that was discussed in the previous thread. The app works fine for normal scan and go purchases, only fuel is not working. After scanning the QR code and selecting the payment it says unauthorized and logging me out of the account. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and it didn't fix the issue.

Sam's prevents me to joining at this rate because I use to be a member.

Sign up with a different email address and credit card and it should work fine.
