"Pretty Woman" was filmed using 35mm film, resulting in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, which translates to a resolution of approximately 1920x1080 (1080p) when digitally remastered for home viewing.
So how can it be 4K?
As you mentioned, Pretty Woman was shot using 35mm film. The resolution is *roughly* equivalent to 4K. So if you transfer it to digital format (and if it is done *right*/well), the transfer gets close to a 4K version.
Of course, it still wouldn't be considered 4K "technically" - since it was never shot in 4K.

Hope that helps.
A *lot* of older movies in 35mm have been transferred to get the 4K UltraHD blu-ray (or UHD) versions out. And if done right, there is definitely quite an improvement in the picture.
Audio is another story LOL

PS: I (along with my GF) plan to watch this 4K UHD one this weekend. Hopefully, there *really* are video improvements!🤞

A physical 4K blu-ray is in the horizon, so I will just wait for that. Great deal on the digital copy, though, if you want it now.

Amazon finally matched. Not showing up in my MA account. So I disconnected and reconnected my Prime account. Still not showing. Maybe I just need to wait longer than a few hours.

As with many Amazon MA titles, you may have to contact Movies Anywhere and they usually fix it within a week.

Thank you. MA's response to me was that Amazon has two versions and this one does not port. :-(

Im not sure you correctly understand aspect ratio and resolution. One has nothing to do with the other. I would begin by researching each term.

Incorrect, 35mm is well over 4K.

GoodVibrationas, what you said is partly true and partly not.
I was making it simpler for the questioner (by saying 35mm is roughly equivalent to 4K).

I used to work in this field (and still have *some* interest). My answers might not be the "last word", so take it with a grain of salt Smilie
Technically, depending on how it was shot and how old the film is and how it will be scanned, 35mm footage can turn into well over 4K *OR* can be less than 4K (but definitely equal or better than HD resolution).

But more importantly... the 1st few runs of a 35mm film projections are going to look AMAZINGLY "real" - for a lack of a better word. But after a few runs, the film will start to deteriorate (even if slightly) and both the audio and video will lose *some* of the quality.
Whereas, the digital version will not lose any of its quality.

This is worth a read - if you want to get more into the details [filmfix.com].

Oh, and I should mention... my favorite has always been a film shot on 70mm being shown on a *good* 70mm projector. Very few things that can beat it - in realism. Till now, at least. But I know the world keeps changing (and sometimes improving Smilie

I had purchased this digital in Amazon so as usual Amazon did not upgrade free to 4K. If I had purchssed from Apple it would have been a free 4K upgrade.

Does anyone know whether this has the original theatrical version of the movie? I hated the directors cut and I recall many years back the director refused to release the theatrical version to blu-ray and was forcing everyone to watch his inferior directors cut. I am hoping this contains both versions of the film. Can anyone confirm?
