Amazon has dropped the price to $92.84 for the Nesco Deluxe Food VS-12 Vacuum Sealer, Kit Bags & Viewing Lid, Compact, Silver [amazon.com]

This is the lowest price in almost a year. The price drop appears to be because an Amazon Merchant has dropped the price to $88 (Click the "Other Sellers on Amazon" link to see that price). I suspect this won't last long.

FYI this is the top rated compact food vacuum sealer by ATK. I have one. Outstanding product. Easy to use.

Great deal! Been waiting for a good sale on this model. Seems to be the best overall vacuum sealer for general use.

I have this model and I like it. Best one I've owned.
Just two notes: 1. Hold down Manual Seal for a couple of seconds to get it to do its job. It will blink if you just tap it, but hold it down to do it. 2. Don't store it in the lock position. This isn't my recommendation, but the company's. I just have to tell my lovely wife "Hey, they say don't store it in the lock position!"

Yes apparently keeping the pressure on the seal can weaken or distort it.

Question about it. I purchase a bunch of hamburger meat, split it up and vac seal. I will have approx 30 packs w individ patties. My old cheapie sealer warned against using it so many times in a row but handled it like a champ. Has anyone used their Nesco like this? Thanks gang!

Yes I have done this occasionally but when I do, I do try to be sensitive of the need for the heat pads to cool down.
So I make sure it's resting in the open position between tasks. And I try to stagger the tasks a bit rather than go assembly line style. For example, I'll seal one side of the first ten bags, then prep ten patties, then vacuum seal those ten, then cut ten more bags while it's resting, etc.
This may or may not be necessary, but it gives me a little peace of mind that I'm not overheating anything.
