True, but it's much more difficult to pretend you are running wire to a plunger to blow up an old mine with a traditional extension cord.

Label says 8 Amps/1000W is the maximum current/power draw, which seems pretty low -- but given it's only 16AWG, I suppose that makes sense. Going to pass.

This seems like it's built to sell to someone who doesn't know about wire gauge. If you want something heavy duty with four outlets, you want at least 14awg if not 12awg.

Your statement assumes that everyone wants to run heavy loads with this. It would be plenty for a media cart, as a long power strip for home theater, a computer desk away from convenient outlets, or holiday decorations. Lots of other applications as well within its 8 amp max rating. Of course it's homeowner and not contractor grade at $13. But the specs are clear for what you're getting, right at 1000W of capacity.

I agree that this is accurately labeled, but check the reviews to see what I mean. There are many uses for 16awg extension cords, but this isn't the form factor typically associated with those. People in the reviews are trying to run circular saws, run an extension cord from a generator to multiple appliances...

That made me chuckle, not at you but at the general mentality of people. A review that complains "it doesn't run 4 of whatever I plug into it" is the rough equivalent of calling the bank and saying " there's no way my account is overdrawn because I still have blank checks in my checkbook".

Every AC device sold in the US has a voltage + wattage and/or amperage label attached to it. If people can't do simple math when using electricity then maybe they should stay away from it for their own safety. Thankfully Walmart idiot-proofed this cord with a circuit breaker.

It seems like a 3 outlet extension cord takes up a whole lot less room
And if you want to put it anywhere longer term, that's a much better solution.
But, if you need to bring power somewhere temporarily, say, in the driveway/yard/etc, having to try to neatly roll up that 25' cord again without it becoming a tangled mess of nightmares, and then getting it to actually stay that way after you store it wherever you keep it, is a fairly Herculean task, and most people just end up with a giant, twisted and hard to store ball of cable instead.
I have a number of long extension cords, and eventually ended up getting a cord reel for each one - if I were to do it all over again, I would definitely buy ones like this, already built into a reel with a retraction function. For some uses, you obviously want the outlet end to be the part that extends out, rather than the plug, but still... It's like the difference between a bare roll of measuring tape, and the retractable kind. Each has its use.
Regardless, I wouldn't buy this one, since it's only 16AWG, and this is the kind of extension cable I would put a heavy load on.

I've always wanted a big plunger switch like that, and one day, I swear, I WILL have one. What will I use it for? I have no clue. But I'm pretty sure that I need to have one.
... maybe I'll use it as a light switch?

If I had one I'd program Alexa to order me an extra large meat lover's pizza for delivery the moment she hears the sound of me pushing down the T-bar on that thing.

I have this, and a better one I found at costco (cost twice as much). I hate how awkward the reel is on this one--like a real pain in the arse. It collects dust in the garage now that I have a decent one.

Bonus points if you sing "If you don't gimme the deed to your ranch, I'll blow you all to bits!"

This thing should be illegal, multiple outlets on a 25' 16g cable is just dumb imo.

Walmart deals are almost always location dependent. Often you can change your location to a store where there is stock, add to cart, and then you'll be able to check out with the lower price. Doesn't always work, but it does frequently.
then you drive another 150 mi to pick it up?
