Do you recommend Scott's?
No problems recommending Scott's...I like it's small particulate which flies well in still air, less so when applied windy. Larger particle is less susceptible to wind drift.

Will it also kill/prevent Creeping Charlie (the weed vine)?
Glechoma, no...as it can spread vegetatively.

Are you supposed to mow the lawn before putting this down? My lawn service doesn't start till April I'm in Long Island
Ideally yes...for application consistency. If blades are lodged over, particle and therefore chemical will be inconsistent - too light by crowns, too heavy in thinner areas.

You don't need to put this down until the forsythia ( yellow flowering ) are blooming….which on LI is in April. You can wait until the landscaper cuts the lawn and the forsythia are blooming.

If you want to go down a rabbit hole you can Google soil temps to put down crabgrass preventer.
On second page of this listing a poster put a link to soil temps….believe link ends in .edu

The yellow blooming forsythia on your side of the street is a great annual reminder.

The Pennington's brand is light years ahead of Scotts.."Or The Anderson's" brand ..go for slow release or you will nitrogen burn your still dormant lawn.

"With Lawn Food" , so can this count as the equivalent of "Step 1" feeding?

Newbie here - our landscaper told us that Scott's is "trash" because of the fillers used and we're better off with Jonathan green. Is there merit to this or is he crazy?
Your "LANDSCAPER"?! You must find LOTS of deals for utilities, fuel, insurance and food! :-)

If you have a Menards I just did the math and their regular priced large bags of crabgrass preventer and weed and feed without the 11% rebate actually work out to about 20% cheaper than this Scotts deal. Just an FYI for anyone as I was going to grab this deal but now just doing Menards.

You should stop using a lawn service and stop polluting our water and killing our wildlife! That's what you SHOULD do!

Get a grip dude. Grass is the most economical ground covering available. Not everyone has the time, money, or desire to replace all with native plants. A responsibility managed lawn can be eco -friendly.

I have got several patches in lawn where there is no grass

With good routine(pre emergent, water, mow, weed/feed) will Bermuda take over those patches. Or should i overseed?
Never overseed Bermuda. Most Bermuda lawns are hybrid versions which will look noticeably different than common Bermuda (seed).

And because it is Bermuda it is nearly impossible to kill — basically Roundup is your only choice and several apps at that.

Warm season grasses (ie southern lawns) spread and fill in on their own. If you want to speed this up you can take runners and plant them in the bare areas. Water the area a few times a day until established then it will fill in.
