Allegedly I have been refilling these non-refillable cylinders for decades. Never did the freeze the small tank, warm the big tank thing and never did I ever once mess with the over pressure safety pin - just refilled and whatever volume was there I just accepted. A toothpick or similar non-metallic object can be used to release pressure from the screw in valve before refilling for a more complete fill. After a refill listen for a leak. I had 1 eventually develop a leak and discarded it. I do write the date on the small tank when I acquired it and have at least a dozen that are 10 years old that still hold pressure just fine and a total of at least 30. Allegedly, of course.

To the people wondering how long these last in specific barbecues or stoves, these have approximately 21,000 BTUs per 1 lb cylinder. So If your barbecue is 10,000 BTUs it will run it for a little over 2 hours on high. Most camping stoves have 2 10,000 BTU burners, so it would run a stove for about an hour running both burners at max.

Good Price, but I am on a Target boycott right now. Never thought I would actually boycott a store before, but I did it.

I've never used or purchased these before. How do we go about getting refills?
These are considered "not refillable" but you can buy an adapter for $10 and fill them with your 20# tank.

Don't understand why they didn't go the same route as SodaStream with their CO2 bottles which you can just return to the store when empty. I guess there might have been some concerns of storing a piles of used propane gas thanks at the stores, but I'm sure they could have come up with a way to ensure the bottles were empty when brought back to the store.

Or you could be more creative and refill them with an adapter and then repurpose the bottles for other projects like I do. Not everything has to be banned by mommy and daddy. We're not children.

How long do these typically last for those typical 2 or 3 burner camp stoves?

I picked up a 2 burner stove on clearance real cheap several months ago to stash away for hurricanes and such. Intended to get an adapter to hook up the regular 20lb tanks for grills and such but haven't yet. If these 3 packs or even the 2 packs you normally see for this price is enough to last cooking with 1 burner once or occasionally twice a day, maybe occasionally both burners, for up to 2 weeks, just grabbing these small proper bottles might be a little more convenient.
Not sure why this is being downvoted. I bought one for the exact same reason

Worked for me! We have a 5 lb tank for our Coleman, but these are great to have around in case we run out.

Every town/city has safe disposal sites run by local government /private entities. Google your city's name + propane tank disposal.

To state, "banned in CA by 2028" is misleading, implying all 1lb. propane canisters are banned. The law is all 1lb. propane canisters must be reusable or refillable, starting 01/01/2028. Only 1 time use canisters will actually be banned.

These are usually $10 at Walmart for the two pack. Good price for 3.

Can these blowtorch?
Yeah, it can obviously depend on the type of torch, but I picked up a Bernzomatic basic torch plumbing kit (pic attached) that I found on clearance at Walmart last year and these green canisters work fine with it. It came with one of the blue propane canisters originally.
