Imo better to just the newest m4 for only $150 more at micro or bb price match. Youll have better resale later on too
Keep in mind the M4 adds two additional CPU cores, officially supports two external displays (alongside/simultaneous with the internal), and Apple rapidly slashed the M3 by Black Friday on sales.

M4 Air also adds Wi-Fi 6E and a 12 MP webcam.

Hence, M3's are probably headed to $699 as they clear out and M4's may track to $849 by Black Friday.

I would only buy this if you never will need dual-display, and/or just want to give Apple as little money as possible. M3 wasn't a huge bump, but M4 improves performance significantly.
Economy has gotten worse. Apple has two choices to keep sales up. Cut the M3 Air, ship a 12-inch MacBook with leftover M3, or else accept less sales.

Problem with the 12-inch, and analysts have said Apple has/is considering that, is you have to make a new keyboard, bring back the hated gel caps, or accept it won't be as thin as the Core M model.

I don't see any M3s on Costco's website or in warehouse. Will they have them again? I'm more interested in an M3Pro.

I don't think a 12inch MacBook would sell well

M4 is better. It's only a few hundred bucks more and completely worth it. Wake Up and Open Your Eyes.

Depends on area. Walmart was selling refurbished units until recently (September) for $515.

eBay refurbs go for around $400.

Picked up my M1 for $400 100% battery 🔋

The loss of the 11-inch and 12-inch is significant.

It was one of the last things I pushed for before leaving the Apple sphere. The Core M was a mistake. But an M3 ultra portable with a low resolution display would be great.

I still use my 11-inch Air every week. It's super light, and for accounting and inventory it's great.

56 other ppl care for this product…11" laptop? probably one of the stupid thing Apple made. the new Apple air is probably lighter, faster, last longer and way more powerful…

An m1 MacBook Air is worth 300$ max

Pre-m1 MBAs can go for $300ish sold on eBay so $300 for an m1 is a great deal. That m1 MBA is nearly as good as the m2/m3 to the casual user.

if you can get the education or military discount you can get the new m4 13" 16/256 for $899.

B and H has the m3 15" 8gb/512gb for $849 right now and I am really tempted to get that. We have like 11 percent tax in my state which just sucks but I guess B and H has a pay boo store credit card where you get the tax back instantly. They do charge shipping

It's not for everyone. Sells well with smaller hands. Steve Jobs had small hands. Sells well in Japan too.

The new 13-inch Air is not lighter than either the 11-inch Air, and especially not the 12-inch MacBook.

The 12 inch MacBook is three quarters of a pound lighter. It is so light it comes close to heavier iPad models - with a full keyboard, touchpad, and macOS. Intel really dropped the ball there, because had they not screwed up process evolution, that machine showed they could have rocked mobile computing.

Nobody questions the new machines are more powerful, but there's nothing stopping Apple from putting those designs into the lighter, smaller platforms. Multiple analysts have confirmed Apple is considering it... specifically because Intel MacBooks continue to hold the record for being lighter. And sold well in Japan and with others that have smaller hands. Again, like Steve Jobs did.

$150 more is also a 21% increase. That's significant for people who want a budget option. You're also not going to get $150 more on resale if you hold onto it for a few years.
