That's an apples to oranges comparison. One would expect the Samsung with 2 extra speakers to out perform the Philips. Plus the Samsung can easily integrate rear channel speakers that Best Buy sometimes has as open box sales for $80. It just seems like you're comparing vastly different class products. The Samsung is a good option for a living room or family room and the Philips is more for bedroom or small office.

Walmart[walmart.com] has Philips TAB8905/37 3.1.2 Sound Bar Speaker (Alexa & Google Assistant Supported, Dark Gray) on sale for $125.49. Shipping is free.
I've had bad luck with all thiings Philips audio. Maybe it's improved over the past decade or so, but as a rule I don't buy anything Philips with a speaker.
Reviews on reddit and elsewhere seem good but was hoping for a 5.1.2 system. Anyone know of rear speakers that can paired?
Excellent question. I wanted to know the same. From what I can tell in researching online -
You can sync Play-Fi-compatible speakers for multi-room audio, or even create a true surround-sound system—all via the Philips Sound app, or the Play-Fi app.
I've never heard of Play-Fi. It seems to be a Phillips specific thing. Here is a Reddit with the same question. The TAW6205 Play-Fi satellite speakers are $100 each, and it seems like people have issues with pairing Play-Fi. So you're up at over $300 with this sound bar and two additional speakers. I have to question whether at that point it's better just to get a true 5.1 system.
Highly recommend this one. Recommended by wirecutter and a great review. have had top tier sound bar but seriously I cant tell the difference. really happy with this.

I've been looking for a decent sound bar without breaking the bank. At this price I grabbed one and will judge it for myself. I'm pretty sure it will be good enough to suit my needs.

Cancelled the order. Seems not worth the hassle. Samsung is working well so far. Still have 30 days to return.
