GE is not the GE back then. A Chinese company, Jasco, licensed the GE name and have since relabeling Chinese products under GE name.

Are these smart - get phone notifications and turn off on phone ?

If not , what do you do if they malfunction and start blaring if you're away half across the world ?
and your neighbors hear and call the cops ?

If you are away across the world, id recommend getting a smart camera. I use wyze v3 and it can detect people, then trigger another smart outlet to turn on. I used a 12v siren and adapter, connected to this wyze switch. I now have an inexpensive home security alarm. I also synced it with my Google speakers at home, ex: "hey Google, turn on siren", in case of an emergency.

Yeah, I'd be more interested if they were smart—like having notifications via an app.

That said, these could still be useful if you're renting and want a heads-up if someone tries to break in and, well, eat your face while you're sleeping. Seriously though, I can imagine a situation where these "dumb" affordable window alarms might actually be useful to some.

Can they be put on the fridge? That's where I really need a security alarm in the middle of the night. I'm not sure what happens but I go to sleep with leftovers and wake up with dishes in the sink...

These things are great for toddler alarms. Also good for your shed if you have a mower and stuff out there. No it's not smart, but can alert you and neighbors when your 3 year old decides to go for a stroll out front. A thief will also run like crazy, they don't fear the alarm, just the owner in his boxers that just woke up.

One reviewer thought an intruder had triggered the alarm overnight causing him to take preventative measures (weapon), only to find out one of the pieces had fallen off the door or window (I don't remember which) causing the separation between the 2 parts. That's not a problem I'd have thought about, but definitely something to keep in mind.

noob here.

when the alarm gets triggered...door opened

if the door closes, does the alarm automatically turn off or do you manually have to turn it off?

The alarm will automatically turn off when door is closed, as long as the 2 pieces are not separated, alarm will not sound.
