Artificially flavored blueberry bits. Wow. Not even fruit in muffin mix anymore.

Looks like it contains dehydrated palm oil.

I always buy the mix that includes the tin of blueberries. It never seemed like enough, so I use two tins. The extra mix I use with fresh blueberries, chunks of apple, chocolate chips, etc..

Been looking for a basic muffin recipe to use with my own add ins. Still have not found one I like quite as much as the prepared mix though.

Why not just add blueberries to the mix you like?

Better off with just plain cake mix in the cupboard and frozen blueberries in the freezer. Much cheaper. Ridiculously cheap if you make your own cake mix (there are plenty of simple recipes that don't require much effort and yield similar to boxed results).

I don't do muffins often, but when I do it's usually like that - premade cake mix sitting in an airtight container with a mix of blueberries and bananas with some walnuts. Perfect use for bananas too if you've got some heading towards the bin, just chop them into bits and freeze them.

I do sometimes. Just depends on what I have around. Usually buy the mixes when Amazon has a bulk deal. So, twelve at a time.

I will have to try it with the cake mix.

Just add water was the original. They changed recipe at some point to include "add an egg" or whatever so people baking could feel like they were doing something, but all psychology.
Apparently it worked

I got the chocolate chip version of these to try at a super discounted price. They're passable for cookies if you don't want to make them from scratch and only want a few to eat shamelessly at midnight... But don't expect a lot from these.

This is the same container my instant spackle repair kit came in. In fact, I think the ingredients are the same too and also just had to add water.

Muffins is one case fresh isn't better. I think frozen blueberries work better. The ice breaks some of the cell walls and so it can integrate with the muffin better. Instead of being just solid balls inside muffins

Funny, I had the same experience with frozen. Giant, mutant blueberries that did not want to break down.
It's all variable, depending on supplier and seasonal stuff I guess. I tend to buy whatever is on sale. My best experience though has been with fresh. That batch was so good
I immediately went back and bought more.
