if looking at the Hisense U8 or TCL QM851..they are both going to be much brighter and punchy color wise
Speaking from owning the Hisense U8N personally
There are moments of greatness and the 4K HDR performance will blow you away
But dont count on lower quality images to look as good as the Sony and expect some bugginess in operation occasionally from the Chinese brands

Echoing what you said, brightness wise the U8N gets ridiculously bright, but only if you are okay with the colors looking like neon Vegas billboards in terms of being super saturated. Trying to get it accurate comes at a large brightness cost and even then cannot match the B9 just being thrown in one of the preset picture modes!
The other thing is, Sony's picture processing is top notch. Their motion interpolation is just the right amount to avoid weird LCD-pretending-to-be-film strobing but also not turn it into a Samsung style soap opera. Their "reality creation" is basically like an AI upscaling algorithm built-in -- it's not perfect with every form of content but the default level makes most content appear crisper. Going back to a LG OLED in a different room, I often double check my Plex settings because I swear it's not 4K but it is the same content, just missing Sony's scaling.
The Bravia 7 is such a great value, honestly I would've been happy with it versus getting two Bravia 9's. The main delta is a little less brightness and the backlight control isn't as OLED-like though still damn impressive for a miniLED.
Currently I would say the Bravia 7 and Bravia 9 are truly in a class of their own as far as Mini LED TVs go.

Lower quality is just about anything streaming, even 4k. Is it worth hundreds more?
I used to have Sony until 2010, then Samsung through their qn95b model. Replaced it with x95k and am in love with Sony!
Hundreds more is too general. I'd pay about 20% more vs a flagship non-sony. However, some will pay double, and while I understand why, I wouldn't.
And yes, id pay more for Sony vs any OLED. I have both in my house, and always prefer Sony.
X93L is almost the same as Bravia 7. I'd pick x93L 💯

Agree with everything you said! Vicent raves about B7, and it has advantages over B9, not just in price. I have an x95K 85" and still drool over the picture nearly 2 years later. Whenever I need another TV, it will only be Sony - with patience, you can afford a Sony at not much a premium.
In fact, I don't like any of my LG OLED C2, C3 anymore! Next model year, I'll be replacing them with Sony...

I was watching some 4K HDR Netflix on my Sony A95L this past weekend it looked pretty dang good
Since I watch most movies in that room with a darker room environment I dont think I will be replacing that with anything but OLED
In my great room...that has a wall of windows...I have a Samsung QN90A
I used to have a Sony Z9D there until it failed. I bought it at a crazy clerance demo/open box price years ago.
I can see me replacing that Samsung QN90A with a Sony bravia 9, but would probably have to be at a closeout price unless the Samsung failed
I have a couple of Hisesne Tv's in bedrooms..U8H and U8N
Honestly there are moments of brilliance, especially in the U8N, but when it exhibits some buginess or I see some picture processing issues I am reminded
BUT...we have to take into account that the Sony bravia 9 is almost 3 times the price of the Hisense U8N and TCL QM851
So, in my opinion, the chinese panels provide unbeatable value and performance for the price
if you watch mostly 4K content..or even HD content..unless you are stickler for accuracy the Hisense U8N is strong. I cant speak for the TCL since I dont own it
But I would hard pressed to spend Sony flagship money unless the Tv was in my main viewing environment

No doubt TCL/ Hisense offers incredible value for money and incredible quality... I love Sony but would only spend 10-20% more, never the full difference. I wait until sales or similar. Heck I paid $1800 from my x95K ... Would not have paid 3k,.let's alone the full retail at launch of 4k+! So yes, price is definitely a huge factor
From what I'm seeing it looks to be around the same tier as the X90, which should mean the 65" will eventually come down to ~$999 and the 75" to ~$1,200
