I don't plan on using the phone for actual cell service, so unlocking is not necessary. I just want a decent android device to use. Thanks in advance!
Update: I ordered a number for $5 from numberbarn, enabled SMS on it, then was able to port it to order this Motorola Edge for free + $55 the plan. Thanks FabulousStranger526!

Totalwireless requires a verification code sent to the # porting out, before checking out.
To be fair, my kid does play Roblox on this and it works okay, but heavier games (like Genshin) are choppy. Performance aside, the camera and software support (limited updates, preinstalled malware that you should disable ASAP) are the other two negatives. Besides all that, I really do like the phone and how it feels in hand, even with the curved glass.

I was also able to activate SMS without paying the extra $2. I double checked my CC and was only charged $5 for buying the phone number. Might've been a glitch for me, so YMMV. I went to the upgrade options, clicked each one because I wasn't sure which offered the SMS service, noticed the enable SMS button was active, so I went back and activated it.
The port-in is when you receive the device and activate, and you don't even have to use the same number as when you ordered.
