Longer answer is that it sounds like you have the original RG35XX from 2023, since Garlic was only ever made for that device. That model has a different chipset, so unfortunately, you wouldn't be able to just swap your Garlic SD card into this handheld. Anbernic did release an updated follow up to yours in 2024 called the "New RG35XX" that has the same Allwinner H700 chipset that the device in this deal thread has, but that 2024 revision couldn't run Garlic OS (which is why I assume yours is the original 2023 model instead).

The Odin 2 is the peak of android gaming handhelds atm and can emulate everything through Switch. ~$300. Not a clamshell though and it's physically bigger so you'll have to bring it around with a case or use it mostly at home.
The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 is untested/unreleased and so it's a bit of a gamble to buy now. But with a clamshell you can toss it in a pocket/bag sans-case and not have to worry about the screen being damaged. It also has a 1080p OLED so that's going to the the pinnacle for a while at the $200-300 price point since it's the sweet spot for most integer scaling. The Odin 2 has a great LCD screen and it's definitely not much worse, but it's hard to beat an OLED.
When price is no budget, there's a handful of excellent windows devices + the steam deck which can emulate far better (since emulation runs far better on Windows/Linux than android). ASUS ROG Ally X, Legion Go, MSI Claw, and a few Chineese offerings which are good as long as you never plan on needing tech support. But you're looking at a far larger device and $500-$1000.
Ultimately this, and the Miyoo Flip 2 (V2) are looking to be excellent cheap intro clamshell emulation devices for systems up through like N64/GBA/PS1. It's quite a cost and size jump to get to the next level. Get this if you care about ergonomics and a decent hinge, the Miyoo Flip 2 if you care about joysticks (N64/PS1), a smaller device, and are willing to risk hinge issues.
Personally I picked this up for classic retro systems like NES/SNES/GB/GBA and have a Retroid Flip 2 on order for the rest. I like to toss my handhelds into a purse and a case makes them too bulky but a clamshell is perfect for me.
I also got an PK x35h (mini x55). Powkiddy OS is horrible despite what YT influencers say. Using RockNix and having a much better experience. Have yet to try GammaOS yet. No WiFi or BT is okay since I don't plan on doing much more with these.
Just waiting until Steamdeck 2 or actual reviews of SteamOS on Legion Go S before dropping $$$$

None are durable like big brand stuff but at least this one has a clamshell design.

I ordered a few of these to gift to my nephews and will be travelling internationally in 2 weeks.
The estimate on AliExpress showed that these will be delivered by April 3 to 6.
This store being called anbernic local and mentioned it will be shipped from the US,I thought I will get them on time.
However, even though there's a tracking number, the USPS shows that the package is not yet handed to them.
So now I am worried that these will take the regular AliExpress time of 15-20 days and I won't get them before my trip
