I get an insane amount of dust in my basement. Is this something that will help with that? Or should I seek an alternative?

Both. Vacuum often or get a robot vacuum, but also identify the source.

I bought a 400s a few years ago on sale. The replacement filters are so expensive and the knockoffs are trash. I ended up buying the Costco Winix purifiers for bedrooms and a ninja never change for basement and kitchen.

I had the 400S and it made an annoying noise at low fan levels.

Read the reviews on replacement filters. Even when purchesed directly from OEM , I have received filters that have a horrible chemical smell.

It has happened multiple times now.
I am done with Coway.

I literally came on to post and try to help someone. I also thought the knockoffs were trash (I bet a few of them are), but I just got these in the mail and they are the same exact weight as an OEM filter - 680 grams each. The filter media is the same toughness with no bendy finds and the honeycombs are a little denser per square inch but the charcoal inside the honeycombs look very substantial with no gaps. I bought OEM for years but having both of them side by side right now, I'm not convinced these are any different. YMMV.

I tried and returned this thing. On its quietest setting it sounds like a fighter jet taking off.
