Made of engineered wood. Lots of negative reviews point this out, in addition to some orders arriving damaged or with missing pieces. Double check your order when you get yours. A lot also say "you get what you pay for", $17.. other comparable shelves on amazon are in mid $20-$30. Low enough to get 2 and throw my DVDs in?

Anyone try building their own shelving? Not much of a handyman myself but does sound like a fun project.

yes always check every panel, i've had 2 broken ones from amazon so far
