Woot has had it at this price for about a month now - I got it when it first dropped to $40 and I'm almost done with getting the Plat for all six in order. Some thoughts:

QoL like EXP Boost, fast forward and auto-battle are absolute lifesavers and really allowed me to play FF 1 and 2 for the first time without griping about the slowness.

Going for the plat was painful for 4 and 5 just in terms of making sure I wasn't missing any chests or bestiary since those games have a ton of one-time-only dungeons.

The redone graphics absolutely shine the most in 6, they redid the entire opera scene in something like Octopath graphics, semi-3D 2D if that makes any sense. Either way it was amazing.

As expected, the arranged music was fantastic. I went back and forth a few times to get nostalgia hits but stayed with arranged music for 90% of my playtime.

Keep droppin! Might actually bite when it's $20 on Steam. Even though I've bought these games I don't know how many times before already 🙄

You aren't kidding. I wanted FF6 for Christmas and my mom gasped at the price. Same with Chrono trigger.

CT alone was $150 dollars in 2025 money ($79 in 1995)

Waiting on 30 because I only really want VI but won't be upset to also have III and V. I will likely never play IV again (already beat it on PSP) and see no value in 1 and 2.

Right! But it's only $10 more for the Switch version right now. Not great but not bad either.https://www.amazon.com/FINAL-FANT...1178&psc=1
I bought FF6 on digital because it's one of my all time favorites - however would pull the trigger on a physical at the right price to have the rest of them. Going to have to keep waiting

Same deal as before last time it was on Woot (or maybe that was $42). I am tempted to bite this time but knowing it will likely be 2 years before I get to these games I am more tempted to just hold.

Did many people buy SNES games full price? It was pretty easy to wait a bit and buy games at $10-$20, or rent them for $5.
I don't think they ever got to $10-$20 and at that point you were just running the risk of them being too old to even take up shelf space and there wasn't any amazon or price watching services online to get them from.
Seeing games for dimes on the dollar after a couple years didn't come out til the mid-late 2010's.

That's what I love about people saying games are overpriced today. When you account for inflation many SNES and most N64 games were $60, when you account for inflation we are getting a steal even getting the games we get now at $70.

Some of these games were hard to find back then; Final Fantasy didn't become a household name until Final Fantasy VII. The only store that I knew of that consistently stocked Final Fantasy III (VI now), was Toys R Us, and I think it was $89.99 for at least a couple of years. Most of the time, games like that would go out of production after a certain number of copies, and if you didn't buy at full price, you probably wouldn't get one. GameStop didn't exist then, so the used game market was limited to yard sales and the like.
Side note: I remember a friend of mine got super Mario Bros 3 the week it came out and paid $100 for it... at a store, not scalped.

Wish I had that kind of time to play these games. It would take me the rest of my life to just beat all six. Making money and responsibilities are what my life is these days.

I get 1-2 hours by myself a night after putting the kids down, so I totally get where you're coming from. The first two games are over super quick, especially if you are boosting - my platinum run was about six hours for the first one and eight for the second, really not bad at all in the grand scheme of things. And if you're not going for a perfect game they are even quicker.

Following an online checklist to find every chest sounds like a job not a game.

Amazing games and great slick deal for physical.

I accidently purchased the digital PS5 version at launch thinking it was the physical version.
Might buy it again just to have it physical.
