How good is the screen? does it look washed out like the Rtings review claims? (Asking since they also claim the ram is hard to replace, which is not when checking out some youtube videos). How does it work in tablet, tent and flat? Are there zones where touches don't quite registered as well as other areas, any ghost touches? I'm considering a tablet but seeing how a really good tablet costs as much or higher than this I'm thinking about it. Just in the past I had a 2 in 1 and worked perfect in laptop mode but in tablet mode it had the problems I'm asking about. Never had any of those issues with a regular budget tablet

Yeah I picked it up, added 32 gigs of ram, super simple to add it. I read the review that they consider ram to not be upgradeable because it was hard without damaging the board.. that is not even a little true. The screen also does not seem dim to me. I'm sure there are brighter screens, but it is just fine. Not the fastest with only 8 gigs, but now it seems better with 40. So far, for the price, it is what I was looking for.

Yep, says features a full-function USB Type-C port for fast data, power, and display. I ordered the Vivobook but it was supposed to be delivered yesterday and it didn't even ship so I think it might get canceled. I went ahead and ordered the IdeaPad, hopefully it shows up.

I've used mine for a day and haven't seen any overheating. I ran prime95 just to max out all cores for 3 minutes and the fans cooled the CPU down pretty quick after the temp hit 75C. This is the only laptop I've had that stays silent for general use.
Edit - I disabled encryption and windows restore....I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

The biggest issue I see is the difficulty upgrading the ram: "there's only one SO-DIMM memory slot since the other 8GB of memory is soldered onto the motherboard, and the SO-DIMM slot is extremely difficult to access without causing damage to the motherboard. As such, we consider the RAM to be non-replaceable."
whoa never seen that before

I updated the RAM using the YT and AMZ links from this thread. It was pretty easy; you will need a TINY screwdriver and a basic electronics pry bar kit. Considering this is easily upgradable to 40GB, and runs nice and quiet, it's a great deal.
I didn't dig in enough to find if it has a 2nd ssd slot (the manual should say) - but the included SSD is easily removeable to replace.
The included charger is not USB-C, but the USB-C chargers do work with it. I was even able to charge it using a USB battery bank with power delivery.
I have a 144hz 38" 3840x1600 monitor. This laptop was able to output full resolution to that monitor from usb-c to displayport at 120hz (I couldn't get signal at 144hz).
I had gotten this for my girlfriend, and have the TP3607 on it's way for myself. That's a newer version of this laptop with a 3K OLED and Lunar Lake CPU (which has crazy good battery life, and higher performance). However, *THIS* laptop after the memory upgrade is about $900 cheaper. I'm seriously considering sending my TP3607 back when it arrives, and just grabbing another one of these for myself since I'll primarily use it with a 38" monitor.

Thank you that's a huge downside for a laptop! I was considering buying this but then I just flashed linux into one of my old laptops, new again! Smilie Saved me $450

I think any heat issues were probably with similar i9 versions. I picked up a 2nd one and they both run cool and virtually silent. Keep in mind this is the i5 (U) version which is very low wattage. They don't get that hot. The deal is still live where I am in Indiana. I upgraded them both to 40GB ram and 2TB SSD. Screen isn't the brightest but it's fine if I'm not shining light on it. I was going to get the expensive 3k OLED version but didn't want to worry about burn-in.
