Not leather. Gross plastic. Will fall apart within the year. Don't do it. Spend another $30 and get leather boots that'll last.
Another 30$ for leather boots that will last? Could you link, please?!

Check Men's wearhouse clearance. They had leather chukka boots for $30 a few weeks back. Real leather, not faux leather. Will last 4 or 5 times as long as these fake leather for about same price. Not sure if they have any left. Thinner leather than my Clarks, but still seem decently made.

Not one comment linking the real leather boots for $28. It's like Harbor Freight tools. Who cares if it only lasts a few years? It's 1/4 the price.
It's not quarter the price. Not many sizes left but this is the same price for real leather (they had lots of sizes a few weeks back):

I've never paid more than $40 for a pair of real leather boots- they're on sale one place or another all the time. My oldest pair is about 7 years old now. Those fake leather boots will last a year, tops. It makes much more sense to get proper leather because you pay much less in the long run because you don't have to keep replacing them.

Also, hugely YMMV but your local thrift shops sometimes have good shoes. I have 3 or 4 pairs of loafers I wear regularly that I paid less than $10 each. It helps if you know something about shoes and the construction, and be able to spot quality craftsmanship and methods, not necessarily because you'll resole or otherwise repair the shoes, but shoes with good craftsmanship/methods are generally made with good materials.

Very seldom do I go to banquets lately in which local society will show up but I was invited to one few weeks ago as a friend was receiving an award for children's charity support. My normal dress shoes were nowhere to be found. So up I go to Marshall's and found a Nunn Bush real leather shoes on clearance sale (inner sole was missing, no problems, I got an orthotic sole on my shelf) for $24. I am not fond for plastic shoes either but if used for rare occasions like fancy dinner etc that is not too bad. Real leather shoes are becoming rarer. Noticed the best leather shoes are made in India. Not sure how that happened knowing they don't like to kill cows. But sad Macy's resorting to plastic shoes. I stopped at the local Nordstrom's Off the Rack clearance store and they had plastic shoes for men also.

Some HF tools (hammers, mallets, etc, not adjustable wrenches - ask me how I know) will last decades. These shoes will last a year or two max, and will look like trash for 90% of that time. Then they will go in a landfill and sit there for a thousand years. A decent pair ($50-100) of leather shoes could last 5 times as long before getting beat up and going to the dump. A quality pair of resoleable full grain leather shoes ($150+) will last you a lifetime and look good the entire time.

It isn't about the price in this case. No one is saying that. They are saying spend a little more and get shoes that will actually last and look good doing it. I have some leather boots that are 20 years old, several dress shoes that are 10+. These shoes wouldn't last 20 uses and still look as good as my 20 year old boots do.

But anyway, here is a link for something similar in price but much higher quality. These deals come and go, but it is easy to get decent quality shoes and boots for $50 or less, super easy if you budget closer to $100.

I really LIKE the fact that these are all made with GENUINE faux leather uppers. The entire race of fauxes would long have died out except for these shoe manufacturers, that keep breeding faux leather animals.

Faux leather and your feet will feel hot and sweaty, and a year later the shoe looks scuffed and like crap.
Real leather, your feet won't sweat and be stinky, and with proper care will last you for many years.

I'm with you, lookswise, faux leather can look pretty good thesedays.. and for some applications holds up well. My phone case/wallet is faux leather- I'm 100% happy with it. I have a faux leather belt... it looked good for a while.

Footware- I wouldn't trust faux leather. You need breathable for your feet to be comfortable (especially in a boot)- also whereas faux leather has improved it's durability over the decades, it still doesn't hold up as well as real leather. Because it lasts longer, real leather is cheaper in the long run because you don't have to keep replacing it.
Not all faux leather is created equal. Corn leather, cactus leather, pineapple leaf leather, etc. are all great alternatives for people who don't wear leather. They are durable and sustainable, and expensive. Cheap shoes are cheap shoes no matter what they're made of, and the shoes in this deal are plastic crap that most likely will fall apart in a few months.

Gosh, It is sad that Macy's has resorted to selling PLASTIC dress shoes. This is the kind of merchandise that one would normally find in Kmart, Walmart or Target. Not Macy's! Perhaps this is why their sales keep falling. A race to the bottom! All of this faux leather (vegan leather, PU leather, pleather... call it what you may) degrades and breaks down to an oily greasy mess when it ages. Then how "sustainable" will it be. Genuine Leather is the epitome of sustainable.
