To like it, you've gotta like Contra, and Contra difficulty. As well as, cheesy 80's action hero vibe.
Gameplay-wise it is similar to Contra but much more polished and "fair", difficulty is very manageable. Bosses are tough but nowhere as rage-inducing as some of the classic contra bosses from alien wars, etc.
