These Mac Minis are already the best deal in the Apple lineup at full price; the fact that you can get one for $450 makes this a ridiculously good bargain.

The downside, of course, is the small hard drive, but you can easily supplement that with an external drive. Or, if you're handy with computer parts, keep an eye on the custom SSD upgrades that are being developed right now....they're not quite ready for showtime yet, but I bet in a year (when your warranty is already expired and you're low on space) we'll have some cool storage upgrades for M4 Minis.

Going to try to respond in same voice....storage size is irrelevant...can use external storage...very fast...no problems or inconveniences...since it is desktop...blazing fast external SSD is <$100/TB...no one wants HDD in computer...only SSD

I currently have a USB hub for my PC work laptop that has 2 hdmi monitors plugged in to extend display. My understanding is this will not work with Mac Mini. Is there a doc/hub with 2 HDMI that can extend displays on Mac Mini and PC?

Yeah. It's an insane value. Could make a lot of sense for a school or business. But for home use, not sure who wants a mini desktop over a marginally more expensive laptop. We've got M3 laptops are popping up for less than $800.
These make for really nice little local LLM AI boxes (and/or other fileserver/development type use). I'd probably snag one if I had a microcenter nearby.

You cannot get a better general computer for the price. If you're opposed or cannot use macOS then get something else, but this is a fantastic computer. Yes, there are other similarly priced options, but this is from a major company with real support and customer service and it runs fantastically.

Also, if you have at least mild technical skills you can buy an aftermarket SSD to upgrade internally. Or, just use an external drive. If I had a micro center nearby I'd consider buying another one.

I was using a self-built Ryzen workstation (5900X, 128 GB RAM, etc.) as my primary computer until I got this. Now that computer is mostly sitting unused until I need it for particular projects that require Windows or Linux or some gaming. I was looking at upgrading my desktop this year but with how little I use it now, I'm going to wait another year or two.

I have the Mac Mini plugged into a thunderbolt dock and am running three monitors through the dock to simply the setup.

Back up to? I've seen it at $499 at best, which is no better than EDU. What price did you see on Amazon less than 499$?

Edit: Amazon is back at $529. Maybe that's what you meant?
$499 last night from $529

Apple probably have a strategy here, slowly replace windows with Mac in the consumer market.

I don't need this thing at all because I have a gaming PC plus multiple handheld PCs around the house, but I am still super tempted...
