I live in New York I have left hand warmers in the unheated garage for 6+ years now and they are still works fine I probably still have more left for few more winters I bought a couple of 200+ years ago
These may last until next winter if you store them properly… but take it from a guy who bought extra last year and tossed them in my garage… they hardened and wouldn't work even though they were within the expiration. Guessing if they're stored in a moist environment then they risk going bad

I have also kept these on a shelf in my Michigan garage for multiple years with no problems.

Are these in any way a risk to be a fire hazard if left somewhere in the house?

I have some from freezer work from 15ish years ago about %30 still got warm. Stored in a dark closet. (the new ones worked way better)

edit2. if I still had prime I would buy this without any question. my spending went way down, I am. surprised Amazon didn't give me free prime. interestingly my sub and save still arrived.

Have had some of these in my old ski bag for at least 10 years. Opened some up this season and they still worked, albeit not at 100%. Buying these for next winter should not be an issue.

Not in my opinion. They don't get hot enough to catch anything on fire, that is why you can keep them in your pocket. Plus, they need oxygen to heat.
