Non-inverters are on and off machines. They always draw the maximum current. Either they are on or off. Every time the compressor turns on, it also affects other appliances because they have to use huge current to kick start the compressor. They maintain the desired temperature by turning off and on. No way to tell the compressor to just run at 25% to maintain desired temperature.
On the other hand, the inverter compressor versions is adjustable. It can draw as low as 100w just to maintain the desired temperature setting. I have this AC but with heater and by average, it draws 200-400w blowing just the right amount of cold air. If it's too hot, or you put it to maximum compressor speed and full fan speed, it can draw up to 1300w.

Only one left on eBay.
For a refurbished AC, only 90 day warranty is a dealbreaker, at least for me. The extra $25 for 2 years is worth it
I agree with this. You could alternatively use plywood, or if you want it to be insulated, get some closed cell foam board insulation from Home Depot which can be cut with a box cutter.

They do sell kits for this type of stuff on Amazon but it's only for units that are single hose or dual hose but in which the hoses are separated. The hose-in-hose design that this model has is limiting in that capacity.
But ordered one anyways

I got mine for power outages or hurricanes. I also have a 8000 watt Hisense Inverter unit I bought for that, but my son was getting hot on the top floor, so I installed it last summer. I removed it for the winter, but it will be going back up in a month or two, so I needed something to use in the main family room without having to take it out of his room if we have a storm.
This is almost perfect. from reviews it uses 400-600 watts average with a few excursions up to 1100-1200 watts.

Are those better than single hose but worse than true double?
I set up and had my Costco unit running for 10 days, it was an amazing 10 days, I had a central air unit that was limping its way to its death and I wanted to buy some time. I went away for the weekend, came back and the unit had stopped working. I tried leaving it off for a few hours, since I was not around when it failed, before ultimately reaching out to Midea. I was simply told to return the unit to Costco as they did not have any warranty replacements in the US in stock. Costco was also out of stock, so there was no way to cross ship, I had to take off all the hoses and insulation to take the parts the best I could to Costco. I cannot remember my error but it was one of the ones that means your unit might as well be dead, something like the compressor was dead and to call Midea.
Luckily Costco returns are amazing, they basically grabbed a pallet and put everything out to confirm the basic stuff was there and gave me my money back and I was free to go.
My point is, figure out how to extend the warrranty via a credit card that can do refurbs or some extended warranty offered by Walmart
