Fake vanilla has its applications especially in warm drinks. Real vanilla extract tends to burn out with the alcohol it's in.

I make teas and prefer this stuff over the extract I've made at home with vanilla beans; one jar with vodka and another with rum. For baking, the real stuff always wins.
